2024 CUHK-Shenzhen Offer Holders Short Video Contest - Round 1 My China Story
Round 1 Theme: My China Story [WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT]
You may not have yet lived in China, but there must be something about it that triggers your interest in studying here. Maybe you have visited the country before as a tourist or participated in the Chinese New Year celebration in your city or community. It might be because one of your friends is Chinese, or you have struggled to learn Chinese as a language. Or even simply because you are of Chinese heritage ethnically.
Whatever the reason is, we want you to use your camera to record and tell your "China Story".
Participants: 2024 Entry Offer Holders
Schedule:
- Submission deadline: March 17 (all eligible entries will be uploaded to our Instagram@cuhkszia on March 20)
- Collecting "Likes" on Instagram (@cuhkszia): by 17:00, China Local Time, March 25
- Result announcement: Early April
Contest Details:
1. Can only enter as an individual.
2. Video specs:

- No more than 40 seconds.
- In avi/ mp4/ mov format and filmed in Horizontal with high resolution (at least 1080p) and high-quality audio. The file size cannot be larger than 100 MB.
- Voice audio can be in English, in Chinese, or in your local language. If it is not in English, please add English subtitles.
3 Submission:

- Use a Zip file to include the video, and a Word document with your application number, full name, title, and description (no more than 100 words) of the video.
- Name the Zip file by your application number and full name, and upload it to WeTransfer.
- Share the WeTransfer link to intlugapply@cuhk.edu.cn by March 17.
4. Legal terms:
The works should be original, which means the participants own the full copyright. Participants must ensure that they have obtained permission from any person featured in their entries. By entering the contest, participants grant CUHK-Shenzhen a royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, and reproduce the entries in any media, in whole or in part, for any educational, publicity, exhibition, or archiving activities solely by CUHK-Shenzhen and for non-commercial purposes.
Evaluation:
The final result will be determined by a comprehensive evaluation. The criteria for evaluation are as follows:
- Theme (20%): Whether the work can reflect the given theme.
- Expressiveness or creativity (30%): Whether the work can effectively convey the author's emotions and thoughts; whether it has novel ideas and creative elements.
- Composition and lighting (20%): Whether the composition and lighting of a work enhance its aesthetic appeal.
- “Likes” collected on Instagram (30%)
*Bonus points: If a work reflects CUHKSZ-related elements (such as logos, buildings, cultural souvenirs, etc.), 10 bonus points can be directly added to its final scores.
*The Most Popular Award: The video receiving the most “Likes” on Instagram will automatically receive this prize. The winner will NOT be considered for other prizes anymore.
Prizes: All prizes can be collected when coming to CUHK-Shenzhen for on-site registration in August.
1. Every participant will receive a small souvenir for participating.
2. A total of 8 prizes will be awarded:
- The Most Popular Award (x1): A set of Xiaomi Mijia Photo Printer
- First Prize (x1): Fuji Polaroid camera
- Second Prize (x2): OAL tote bag
- Third Prize (x4): A full set of dorm bedding
3. A compilation of the winning entries will be displayed on YouTube (@cuhkszglobal) and during the “CUHK-Shenzhen Night in Jakarta” event on April 27.
CUHK-Shenzhen International Undergraduate Admissions reserves the right to disqualify any individual and team contestants whose entries or conducts violate the above rules, infringe on the rights of others, or act in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.
