Accept an Offer

The ONLY way to accept an offer and secure your place is by paying the Deposit and providing a Financial Statement by the due date indicated in your offer, regardless of being offered a scholarship or not. Failure to pay this fee and provide a financial statement by the deadline may result in your offer being withdrawn.

The deposit of CNY 19,000 constitutes part payment of your first year’s tuition fees. If you are offered an Honor or a Full Tuition Scholarship, you are still required to pay this fee but will get it reimbursed to your campus bank account in October.

A financial statement with a balance of CNY 60,000 or the equivalent amount of your local currency is requested to show evidence of adequate financial support to cover the costs of study and living expenses at CUHK-Shenzhen. The statement should be issued and stamped by your or your sponsor's bank. You are asked to upload the Financial Statement via the application system. 

Deposit Refund Policy

Deposit is mostly NOT refundable UNLESS you:

• Submitted the supporting documents requested in your conditional offer, but the said documents fail to meet the conditions.  

If by the due date you do not submit any proof document intended to meet the conditions in your conditional Admission Offer, you are considered withdrawn. The Deposit is NOT refundable if you withdraw. 

• Failed to obtain a Chinese study visa* and would like to withdraw. 

*If the reason for failing to obtain a Chinese study visa is that you currently hold Chinese citizenship, essentially, you are not eligible to study at CUHK-Shenzhen as an international student. The Deposit paid in this scenario is NOT refundable. 

All requests for refunds must be made in writing to intlugapply@cuhk.edu.cn. Full documentary evidence of these circumstances will be required to secure a refund. The timeframe for requesting a refund is August 1-31 of the year of your previous expected entry. NO refund request will be accepted afterward. All refund requests will be processed in September.

The refund will be returned in the denomination in which it was paid. Bank transfer fees will be deducted from the refund. Refunds will be made to the account from which the original payment was received.

If by the due date, you do not submit any proof document intended to meet the conditions in your offer letter, you are considered withdrawn. Deposit is NOT refundable if you withdraw.

If you do not meet the eligibility of applying as an international applicant, you are not allowed to enroll with CUHK-Shenzhen regardless of whether an offer is being made or not. If we discover so during the registration process, and you have paid the deposit to us, the fee is NOT refundable in this scenario. All refund requests will be processed in September after the university term commences.
